Kathikas Mukhtar, Mr Menelaos Tourvas becomes the first Mukhtar in Cyprus to invite "Snake George" to give a presentation to residents about Cyprus snakes.

Over thirty residents packed the community centre today 29 June, to listen to Snake George give an informative & entertaining presentation on the snakes that inhabit Cyprus.

Useful tips were shared on ways of keeping snakes out of your garden, mainly trim the bottom of plants so that if a snake seeks shade beneath a plant it can be seen and avoided. also minimise puddles of water from irrigation systems which will attract snakes.

Snakes are deaf but have excellent eye sight and can feel vibrations.

Snakes will only attack people if they are threatened or surprised and will always try to avoid human contact.

Snakes are a critical link in the natural food chain, by feeding on rats & mice.

The Mukhtar purchased three copies of Snake George's book, these will be available to borrow from Maria.
